Task 1B: Illustrated Typography
Content
Lectures
Week 4: We were briefed on our second and third tasks. Then we picked the words for our second task through a pictionary word generator.
Week 5: We learned how to use the 3D effects tool in Illustrator to make 3D objects and text.

Task 1B: Illustrated Typography
Continuing your AI tools mastery, design and create an aesthetically
pleasing illustrated typography by using words generated from the
Pictionary Generator
Process
During our week 4 class, we used a pictionary word generator to obtain two words for our task. The words I generated were Ink and Lighthouse.
Fig. 1.1 Words Generated, Week 4 (28/04/2023)
After generating the words I began to brainstorm ideas of how to visually represent the words. For the word 'Ink' I thought of flowy black liquid. For the word 'Lighthouse' I thought of a beacon of light shooting from a lighthouse. I created two preliminary sketches

I translated my sketches directly onto Illustrator and explored the use of color and font. According to the feedback I received in week 5, my words and illustrations need to be more connected.

Based on the feedback that was given, I focused more on connecting the illustration and word together. I did some sketches to further explore this. I realized the word 'Ink' could be made out of ink itself using 3D effects. In the word 'Lighthouse', I found that the letter 'i' could act as the lighthouse.

Final
I translated my sketches into illustrator. Below are the final results.
Feedback
The lecturer advised changing it so that the word and illustration and more
connected. For example, the lighthouse could act as the L in the word. Right
now my illustration and word still feel separate.
