Task 2: MyTIGER Illustration Poster
Design a poster for the MyTIGER Competition that illustrates the values of Maybank but also focuses on 1 SDG goal.
Process
I began by looking online to find visual references of what I wanted my
poster to look like. The SDG Goal I picked was #11 Sustainable Cities and
Communities. I wanted to create a poster filled with many small details
and graphics put together, with a vibrant color scheme.

I created 4 thumbnail sketches of different poster designs. I preferred the
third composition the most as it aligned with the story I wanted to tell. I
also wanted my poster to have more curves to add an organic feel to it.
According to the feedback I was given in week 6, I should pick a strong but
short headline and work off that.

After finalizing on sketch 3, I began working on Illustrator to create my
poster. I found lots of vectors online and traced the shapes from there.
Then worked on putting it together to create a strong composition.
Final
Titled: "A Vision for a Safe & Sustainable City"
My poster focuses on SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities. It portrays what I imagine as a sustainable city; renewable energy sources, affordable housing, proper waste management, public transportation use, parks, and nature areas within cities. It’s important to note that climate change will have a disproportionate impact on cities. With urbanization at its peak, it’s vital for us to be inclusive and sustainable in our urban planning. Climate change also brings an increase in natural disasters, we must also plan to adapt for the future by implementing disaster risk strategies.
I depicted the ‘Teamwork’ value of MyTIGER in my artwork by focusing on how communities could come together to make a change within their daily lives. It’s only by working together that we can achieve a more sustainable tomorrow. I hope my poster will generate a call to action in communities to perform self-initiatives such as recycling, opting to use public transportation, or riding a bike. I hope it reaches those who have the means to make a change that can directly impact the future of our cities.

Feedback
You should pick a strong but short headline like 'built sustainable' or 'build sustainable' and work off that.
Reflection
I struggled to make each component for this illustration, but I had a strong
idea and followed through till the end. Next time I would like to play with
the colors and level of detail I put in.
