Task 4: Animated 1-Page Visual Novel

Continuing from Project 3, based on the selected story, create a ONE-PAGE introduction of your visual novel or comic to your readers with at least ONE animated panel.

Process

I planned the content for each panel and created a template to organize my panels. I wanted to start by showing the plague outside the castle walls, by showing men picking up a body bag. The second panel would show the prince demanding to shut the castle doors. The third panel would show the locked castle doors. The last panel would show a masquerade ball, the figures would be dancing in an animated panel.

After creating all the panels, I began working on the last panel to animate as a dancing movement. I created 9 frames to have a smooth and clean animation. With each frame I made them move right to left.

Final

After putting together the panels in Illustrator, I made small additions such as text and symbols. Below is the final Animate 1-Page Visual Novel.

Reflection

Translating my previous assignment - the triptych to a comic was somewhat difficult. It helped to break the story down into panels. I continued using the same style from my triptych in the comic. Next time I would like to take more time to add details and better plan the composition of each panel.
