Instructions
Task 1: Audio Editing
1.1- Audio Dubbing
Choose or record sound clips to be used to create sound effects to bring a video clip to life. The clips will be provided. Students are required to identify the visual components from the video clip that need sound. Duration: 2 minutes.Process
First, I watched the video and documented what sounds I needed and which
scenes they were in. Then I recorded myself for each of the dialogues. Then
I compiled all the audio tracks into one folder.

1.2 - Sound Shaping
Students will record their own voice (5 seconds) and edit the audio into 5
different sound effects: Phone call, bathroom, muffled, underground cave,
and alien/orc.
Process
I inserted the audio into the multitrack editor.

Fig. 1.7 Adding parametric equalizer, Week 7 (15/10/2023)
For the phone call effect, I brought down the bass and treble, then raised
the midrange to 500Hz - 2000 kHz.
For the muffled effect, the bass remains the same, the treble is brought down
and the midrange is raised.
For the toilet effect, I increased the decay time, pre-delay time,
diffusion, and perception.

For the underground cave effect, similar to the toilet I increased
everything even further. Then I increased the dry output level to add a
subtle spaciousness.
For the alien effect, I added the flanger and increased everything. The
modulation was key to making it sound like an alien. Then I used the pitch
shifter to make it higher.

Reflection
Through these audio editing exercises, I was able to better understand how
to edit sound and use software like Premier Pro and Audition for sound
editing. I now understand the concept behind sound effects like parametric
equalizer and reverb. Overall, I learned many new skills and hope to keep
improving in audio editing.
