Instructions
Task 2: Infographic Video Animation
Using a processed design framework, you will now produce an infographic report to present the given information to a ‘target audience’ with the purpose of:
- Creating awareness (such as Global Warming, Recycle, etc.)
- Explaining a process (such as "how to" video)
- Defining a concept (such as "What is Fast Fashion", "What is Color Wheel", etc.)
Any time based media and software using photography, vector imagery.
Design Considerations:
- Organization Principles – LATCH and Content Organization
- Aesthetic Principles – Animation principles
- Cognitive Principles – Principles of visualization
Output Expectation:
The presentation must be deliberated on,
consider each assessment rubric of sorts to your final outcome:
- Show causality
- Multivariate graphics and visuals
- Integrate word number and images
- Content count
- Within eyesight
- Use multiple charts
- Do not de-quantify
Process
Group Formation
We were briefed on this assignment in Week 1 and needed to form a group by
the end of the week. Our group had a total of 10 people.
- Katelyn (Group Leader)
- Alyssa
- Yuan Yuan
- Hui Yi
- Iman
- Janice
- Johnny
- Mercy
- Nausheen
- Reema (me)
Work Delegation
We split into 2 teams - drawing and animation. I was on the drawing
team, and you can see what each team basically worked on throughout the
project below.
Drawing Team:
- Write the script
- Develop and refine the storyboard
- Identify an qrt direction
- Create the animation assets
- Develop a test video for the animation team
Animation Team:
Brainstorming and Selecting a Topic
On Week 1 Sunday, we had an online group meeting to discuss and finalize
a topic. Mr.Fauzi mentioned that we could find an already poorly
designed infographic video and use that as a skeleton. So we all spent
some time looking for video references then voting on which one as a
group.
We settled on the topic - How a Ponzi Scheme Works as our topic and started
on the FLIP Presentation slides. During Week 2, we got feedback from Mr.
Fauzi and he suggested we start working on our storyboard.

Script and Storyboard
During our meeting in Week 3, we discussed as a group and decided on our
video structure. After that the drawing team went ahead and worked on the
script, while the animation team did the initial storyboard. After that we
got feedback and the drawing team further developed and refined the
storyboard.
Video Structure:
- What is a Ponzi Scheme
- How Does it Work
- Example Case - Bernie Madoff
- Signs to Look For

Art Direction and Assets
All of the drawing team met up to work on the art direction and assets.
Iman came up with some fun character designs, and later we all did our
own take on it. Huiyi refined and developed the final character designs.
Bless Huiyi for being a killer art director. She really helped to set a
clear art direction and gave key art assets for us to work off of. Me
and Huiyi were working on scene 4, so we divided certain scenes among
us.

Week 6 (10/03/2025)
Yeah so those are the scenes I helped make assets for and Huiyi came
up with the idea of adjusting character b in the bubble so she looks
less stiff. After that all the assets were handed to the animation
team. They got feedback the next week and further refined.

Feedback
Make sure the video talks about scams and then you can go into types of scams.
Ponzi Scheme can be a case study. He’ll let us choose: think of who is your
target audience? Ideally choose a more popular topic with a wider range of
audience. (suggested ponzi scheme). For next week prepare sketch of the
storyboard (what is the content)
Week 3:
Script: Story structure makes sense. Keep lines short (1 sentence), refine
the longer/paragraph lines to be shorter. Try to simplify the script as much
as possible.
Storyboard: It’s a good storyboard. From what I can see it’s a good layout,
the storyline is good (feels whole?) We can pick the best (or most
important) info to show if our video is over the time limit.
Week 4:
Try to record the voice over and see how long it takes to read the
script.
Week 6:
You can try adding some audio to your animatic to make it more understandable.
Week 7:
Progress looks good so far.
Reflection
Experience
A lot of what we learned in our classes like LATCH and Millers Law I think
helped us in terms of structuring our content effectively. Overall, I think
our team worked pretty efficiently in the short time we had to work on the
project. I think because there were 10 people in the group the workload was
lighter compared to other subjects so that was nice.
Observation
Working on all the art assets collectively is hard because you have to
maintain consistency. Like our group chat had constant updates on what new
design guidelines we had set, but honestly very grateful for that because all
our assets came out looking very cohesive.
Finding
I think it's great we picked a good topic at the beginning - and considered all our assessment criteria's like having charts, graphs, and a clear aim. It helped set a good foundation for us and the script came together quite fast. It's definitely important to ask for feedback weekly and ask questions.
